European industrial production fell in August
Eurostat's first estimate shows a decline in industry in the euro area and the EU.

According to Eurostat's release of 15 October, in August 2026 seasonally adjusted industrial production fell by 0.5% in the euro area and 0.3% in the EU compared with the previous month. Year on year, the decreases were 1.1% and 0.2%, respectively.
How should we interpret it?
The aggregate change does not affect every industry and country equally. This is a first estimate that may be revised later; it describes August output, not October production.
